I watched a couple hours of tv tonight. On 3 different shows, on 3 different channels, the shows were promoted on iTunes. This is first time I've heard iTunes downloads being openly discussed, and when I see in 3 different places I start to notice a pattern.
Does this suggest the big media companies are ready to start the long haul over to internet style tv ? I heard on This Week In Tech that the media networks make less than 50 cents a viewer on regular tv, while they make a $1.00 on each download. Apple has found the incentive that motivates big media, and that incentive is more money.
I'll be more happy to pay for the 10 web only episodes of the Office that will be for sale this summer, as long as the commercials aren't there.
More importantly it seems that Apple is gaining more control each day on content distribution. Where's Microsoft ? Where's the competition ? I think it's just around the corner.
