Eating healthy is expensive

Last night, I wanted to enjoy some good food: salmon, a little wine, lettuce and cheese. I wanted to somewhat enbody what a good, traditional French meal is like. It dawned on me at that point the cost of just the fish was as much (if not more) than a McDonalds meal.

Aside from Trader Joe's and farmers markets, we have a mindset in America that good, healthy food, should automatically be expensive.  The prices at Whole Foods, while accessible to many, are not accesible to all.

Most Americans also do not grow up with an understanding of what healthy food is. While not on the top of the agenda, schools should push for better teachings when it comes to eating habits.

Eating habits can drastically impact a persons life and should be treated as lightly. I do think we're going in the right direction, as a lot of people in this area have woken up to what good food is, and Whole Foods success is evidence of this.

Let's lobby for good food.

Le Panier - Restaurant/Cafe Review

Le Panier in Pike Place comes as close the French bakery experience as any other "bakery" I've been to in the States.  Their slogan is "Very French Bakery". I wish some of the staff there spoke French, but the important part is the cooks have got it right.

They are located on 1902 Pike Place in Seattle. Their website is http://www.lepanier.com

Restaurant Review - Boathouse Grill

I had to chance to go out to the Boat Street Grill in Seattle this week.

I was really impressed with their food and am looking forward to going back there again.
I'm pretty sure the chef was French, and the food was a fusion of sorts, but overall very good, very good.

Prices for main dish ranged from $14 - $30, which is about in the midrange. I've ate at restaurants in the same price range however, that paled in comparison to the quality of this food.

Wine was expensive but worth it.

The location is very interesting, as it's located on Westlake and their is no Boat Street.

Here's a link to their website.
